Origination and deal structure in the power markets allows RPS to assist marketers, utilities, retail service providers and transmission authorities with either access to new markets or expanding upon their current client base. Utilizing our expertise and industry relationships to facilitate purchase/sale agreements for new or existing assets, optimize generation assets through effective energy management, review contracts for overlooked value streams, originate long-term positions for both buy and sell opportunities or create opportunities for trading positions, REC markets or other energy opportunities that enhance the markets that our clients already work in on a daily basis. RPS experience and industry relationships allow us to screen opportunities quickly for our clients in order to secure market off-take and sale agreements for our clients.
Power marketing with RPS can take on a supplier/buyer relationship for those opportunities that will incorporate a DBE component into a purchase agreement with a utility, large industrial, retail energy provider, or government agency that is required or desires to work with minority owned businesses. RPS has a market based rate tariff on file with FERC, holds a Power Marketing License with FERC and is under contract with several suppliers and utilities across the United States. RPS works with suppliers and buyers on both short and long term contracts via credit arrangements established with a large banking institution. RPS understands the unique characteristics of the various power markets that with a strong focus on WECC including the Southwest and California, and has recently begun expanding into the NEISO, ERCOT and SPP markets.
Every project and the market it operates in is unique. RPS provides expertise to private equity groups, merchant generators and others valuable market information for determining project viability. RPS' monitors the markets and gives honest insight into access to transmission, markets, ancillaries and other key factors for making a project a success. RPS' clients have included wind, solar, fossil fuel, and biomass projects that were evaluated for greenfield and purchase opportunities.
RPS is certified nationally through the Women's Business Enterprise Council (WBENC) and in California with the California Supplier Clearinghouse. RPS is currently in the process of applying for certification in Texas.
