Kristin Janicek
Kristin is the President and Founder of RPS Advisors and draws on 20+ years of experience in power marketing, origination, and structured transactions in the utility, wholesale power and renewables markets. She prides herself on her creative approach to power transactions and her ability to find opportunities for her clients in even the most challenging situations.
Kristin began her career at Xcel Energy, where she gained experience in the fundamentals of the utility industry by working in roles from accounting to energy marketing and power origination. Her success in the WECC marketplace and optimizing power assets is the result of her thorough understanding of multiple aspects of the utility business including rates, transmission, power marketing, environmental credits, and renewables integration.
Kristin became a CPA and earned a BS in accounting from Colorado State. She has also taken several master’s level classes in marketing and finance from the University of Colorado at Denver. Previous employment includes roles with Noble Environmental Power, Xcel Energy and Williams Energy Marketing & Trading. Kristin is an avid skier, loves the outdoors and spending time with her family.
Kyle B. Smith
Kyle is Vice President of RPS Advisors and began his career as a petroleum engineer, and he developed numerous successful oil and gas fields. Kyle's success began in the oil industry with ARCO Oil and Gas where he was a top performer trading all grades and financial products of crude, gasoline and heating oil with a primary focus on NYMEX trading.
Kyle later served as Director, Energy Trading for Xcel Energy, which has the combined assets of Public Service Company of Colorado, Southwestern Public Service, and Northern States Power. He progressed to different roles with other organizations and has continued his success by profitably trading in the western and eastern power and environmental product markets.
In 2012, he launched Kyle Smith Consulting, LLC, which provides consulting services and participates in various contract and structured transaction in the oil/gas industries. In 2015, Kyle took an ownership stake in RPS Advisors. Kyle graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a degree in petroleum engineering and a minor in economics.
